DESIGN YOUR OWN PROJECT
REFLECTION
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
For this project, I started by choosing a photo that I thought best fit what I wanted to do. This meant high quality and simplicity so that there is room for my project. I originally wanted to do original drawing in photoshop on top of my photo, but to tie my project into Digital Art, I decided to work on live tracing which is something I have worked with before. Live tracing allows you to pick an image or drawing and trace over the lines within seconds. After you trace, you can move and change the lines along with color the lines and delete them. So, to complete my project, I live traced different drawings and fled them in with color. I also turned the opacity down so that they became more translucent so you could see parts of the original photo.
PROJECT REFLECTION:
I chose to do this particular project because I have always been interested in adding more aspects to photography. I would like to show that after you take a picture, it doesn't have to just be a picture, it can be more. For me, to have the experience of freedom in a class where I don't feel fully confident in, it is very rewarding. Typically whilst working on a project, I tend to experiment a lot, but stick with one result. I never just put it all together and find the best out of multiple results. For this project, I made many different live traces and tested them on multiple photos and I found the one that I felt most confident in. I hope that in this project, I can learn how to properly use my freedom in future projects that I do.

UNDERSTANDING SCALE AND PROPORTION: LANDSCAPES
REFLECTION
Scale: Scale Is basically the size of a particular object in it's normal state. (without augmentation)
Proportion: Proportion is similar to scale, it is more about the relationship between two objects size's. Proportion can compare the regular size of an object and the abnormal size.
Foreground: Foreground is the closest part of an image relative to the viewer. The foreground is often the most clearest of all the dimensional planes.
Middle ground: Middle ground is the plane that is in between the farthest plane (Background) and closest (Foreground.)It tends to be not as clear as the closest view, but not as blurry as the further-most view.
Background: Back ground is the furthest plane from the viewer and tends to be harder to see than the other ones.
Photoshop Tools: I found that most of the tools I used had quite the significance during my work time. the following tools seemed to help me out each day: Magic wand tool, eraser, lasso tool, and the selection tool. each one helped me be refined and concise.
Zip Files vs. Extracted Files: ZIP files are compressed and are easier to use and transfer. An extracted file (I'm pretty sure) is an uncompressed file.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIALS
REFLECTIONS
For this Tutorial, I changed the eye color of a random photo I found online. Obviously, the original picture shows the person with brown-ish eyes whilst the photoshopped one has blue-ish eyes. I order to complete this, I followed the "changing eye color in Photoshop" tutorial. I started by adding a new layer so that if I needed to erase, I could do so without erasing the original photo. I then proceeded to chose color, which was blue with the paint tool. I then turned the opacity of the brush to 6% to create a sheer blue layer to create the effect of blue eyes.

For this tutorial, I turned someone from having very light hair, to yellow hair. To do so, I picked a picture that I thought was suitable for this tutorial; which was the "changing hair color in Photoshop" tutorial. I started by making a new layer, so in case I needed to erase a color mistake, I could do it without erasing my photo. This tutorial had basically the same steps as the other: I started by picking my color on the paint tool, turning the opacity down, and going for it. After I finished covering the whole head of hair, I zoomed in with an eraser and I refined parts that went over where the hair actually was.

ART HISTORY: ART AS COMMUNICATION
REFLECTION
Do you feel you've met or approached the project rationale?
I feel that I have mostly approached the project rationale because I was able to see the history of art and take that into account when I am doing my own art pieces. I can see that through this project, I am able to not only portray with art, but also communicate with others through my art. Through everyone's drawing, they can communicate the style that they like and how they approach art.
What is considered art?
Art can be looked at differently through different minds. Art for me, personally, is a form of creative expression. It can be everywhere, not just on paper or in a sculpture. Art can be of many forms and contexts depending on its creator. The creator does not just have to be a human, it can be of nature as well. Art is something that lives everyone, in the trees, in science, just everywhere, but I think that for most people, art is something that is physical. Particularly seen with the eyes.
How does context affect works of art?
Well, without one knowing the story behind a work of someone else's art, they may not understand the message of it or what it is trying to portray. A perspective on a certain piece of art can change in just one word, like poetry. One word can be the most impactful part of something.
Why would context matter when interpreting art?
If no one understood a context of a certain piece of art, some ideas may never be expressed. Abstract and even realistic paintings would be meaningless to everyone but the painter themselves. Art would not have grown the way that it has. Art tells a story, and you can misunderstand something so simple and have prejudices and negative opinion about a certain type of art or artist.

LETTER PORTRAIT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In order to complete this project, we used class time to be outside and observe nature to find naturally-made letters that are in our names. The letters in my name(nickname) are J.A.Z.Z.Y, most of those letters were pretty easy to find, it just required critical thinking. Once we were able to find letters that occurred naturally or in certain shapes, we photographed them. After we finished finding and taking pictures of all the needed letters, we put them together in order to spell out our name. Part of this project was just observe and have a certain perspective in order to achieve our goal.
