WEEK FOUR/FIVE: CRITIQUE
I began two paintings that I thought connected to the mantra that I chose. In order to form and change my painting into something that connects to the mantra and uses different types of techniques, there needs to be proper critique. I asked my tenant, who has her own mantras and loves them, to critique my two paintings.
1. How does the mantra coincide with the illustration? Does the artist successfully do this?
It portrays the human body and its features as they truly are, not how they should ideally be. The artist successfully and accurately depicts human ‘flaws with asymmetry and realistic detail
2. Is the artist using his/her constraints well?
The artist used her constraints extremely well and in subtle ways. I feel like Jazz was able to use the right color that was balanced and full of texture. The way she used multiple mediums also shows a level 9f advancement and helps viewers connect.
3. What feedback can you give the artist to help them push their artwork/image further?
I would suggest planning ahead a bit more with drafts to make the final piece easier to paint.I would also like to see some gaps filled in some of the paintis as well as a little more refinement on the smaller details.

PROGRESS
My initial thoughts about what I want to do for my final painting is pretty simple. I would like to start with the idea of a one line drawing because I think it shows a sense of connection which goes back to the idea of a mantra (connection to others and connection to self.) I also want to have one main focal point of the painting. In this main focal point, I want to add a bunch of vibrant colors to show realness and personality.
Even though we are isolated due to quarantine, I want to learn more about art and make sure I have a constant creative outlet. In order to learn more about art, I will gain many insights from my father (an art major) and play with many different types of mediums. Such as: oil paint, acrylic paint, ink, and obviously pencil and canvas for my final sketch.

REFLECTION
During this project, I enjoyed experimenting with multiple techniques to gain the texture that I desired. As an artist, I typically use thicker materials. Such as: acrylic paint, oil paint or oil pastels. In this project I was able to explore a new material that opened me up to using it in my future, I now know how to properly apply certain techniques in order to represent different dimensions and perform the right colors.

DESCRIPTION AND PROCESS
The purpose of this project was to find a photo of an object or being that we felt we wanted to paint, then gathered the proper materials to: Draw from sight, make adjustments based on critique, color match and paint to represent that photo as best as possible.
